Saints U14s came through a tricky Cheshire Cup prelim round against Sandbach.
The wind was blowing strongly making playing conditions difficult for both sides. It was a good match with some good skills, played by two well matched sides.
We elected to do the hard work first half, kicking into the strong wind. Sandbach had the edge up front, but our backs looked generally more dangerous.
Sandbach had much of the early territory and possession but our defence looked sharp and well organised. When the ball was turned over and given to our backs We ran straight and direct at the Sandbach defence, who didn't have an answer for our pace and we scored several tries.
The second half was a similar story. Sandbach are a good well organised side who presented us with many problems.
It is the sign of a good side that can adapt to the opposition and the conditions. We are still developing and have much to learn.
It was a good match and a good perfomance , so keep up the hard work!
A big thank you from all at Anselmians to Andy and Chris at Sandbach for their hospitality.
