Mrs Is Walker your club salutes you ! For it was you 14yrs 2 months and 13 days ago who gave birth to 'Walkers Wheels ' ,Simon for your part 9 months previous it reminds me of your school report - Simon lacks imagination and has a tendency to rush his work !
A big thanks to Port Sunlight for allowing us to use their facilities for this one , considering the rain we have experienced of late the pitch was in decent condition and many thanks for your generous hospitality after.
Once the game got under way it was C&N who got out of the blocks quicker and scored an early try out wide. Saints were not in the mood to give any more away and they began to show the desire we spoke about before the game, C&N had a number of dangerous good players and we worked on not allowing them to play, the defence on the day was fantastic and with ball in hand Ewan was able to attack the channels and give his forwards a platform . We probed and asked questions of the oppositions defence when we had the ball and when we didn't we looked organised and hungry by putting our opponents under pressure . Ewan managed to force his way over following a good passage of play to bring the scores level before half time leaving all to play for in the second half. We continued to contain the danger man by stopping him early and not allowing them to play off him and continually asked questions of them with our own danger men and if you knock on the door enough eventually it will open and when Thom received the ball in space deep in his own half he set off , still with plenty to do he beat a couple for pace , handed one off , stayed on his feet when a tackle came in and ran under the posts giving Harry a simple conversion . The last 5 minutes of the match were spent defending the lead but it was obvious they were not going to let this one go .
Great work in the front row from 2x Joes ,2x Sams and Mat , behind them in the row the gruesome twosome Mikey and Luke ( you wouldn't want to meet these 2 in a dark alley) and the back row who tackled their hearts out Capt Charlie, Dan,Nick,Owen and Pietro . Behind the scrum Ed and Liam ensured swift sound service to the back line, Ewan was well Ewan back to his best at 10 , Aidan and Ben in the center would have tackled a crisp packet had it blown across the pitch whilst Sam had his best shift in a Saints shirt on one wing 'Wheels ' on the other wing was simply sublime in beating 5 opponents in his 60mtr dash under the posts to win the game . Harry put in another assured performance at full back - anyone would think he had an ex international in that position at school helping him . To all the boys who didn't get on the pitch thanks for no bottom lips your attitude is excellent and I promise you will get lots of game time over the coming weeks.
Thanks to Andy and the lads from C&N your team is a credit to you and thanks for such a good close game played in completely the right spirit and we look forward to coming to your place at the beginning of March.
Thanks to Tony for his excellent officiating , to Sean ,Ian and Adrian for your continued support and to all the Mums and Dads (especially Mrs W) . To be in the last 4 of the Cheshire Cup is a great achievement and I am sure we will give a great account of ourselves ......Bring it on .!!!!
