DoR, Jamie Kimpton, announces the exciting appointment of a record-breaking, goal-kicking Number 10, to lead the squad next season.

"It’s a big year for club moving into the brand new clubhouse so I want that reflected on the pitch playing some open attacking Rugby for our members to enjoy.“

Liam started his career as a Great Britain Academy Rugby League internationalist, touring Australia & New Zealand. He played at St Helens Rugby League for 5 years before moving onto Rochdale Hornets RL and Swinton Lions RL.

He crossed codes to Rugby Union in 2009, signing for Waterloo in National 2. Since then he has played at Chester in National 3 and for Sale FC where he spent 4 years as captain, gaining successive promotions to level 3. At Sale, he set that club's all-time points record with over 1500 points; still the record to this day.

Liam moved to Stockport in season 2017-18 but now wishes to segue into coaching as player-coach with Anselmians.

“I cannot wait to get started as Player / Coach at Anselmians,"says Liam.

"it’s a fantastic opportunity for me personally to join an exciting forward thinking club. I’m really looking forward to meeting and working with the players. After a meeting with Jamie Kimpton & Steve Pilgrim, who sold the club fantastically well, I was delighted to join the Playing & coaching staff."

"It’s a big year for club moving into the brand new clubhouse so I want that reflected on the pitch playing some open attacking Rugby for our members to enjoy.“

Saints DOR, Jamie Kimpton, said, "Liam has been linked with similar roles at other clubs but the potential he has seen at Anselmians, on and off the pitch, has secured his commitment to the Saints. This appointment emphasises the Club's ambition to produce a top quality team to move into our new facilities when they come on stream in 2020."

Liam's work starts immediately, liaising with current management, players and potential new recruits prior to pre-season training which will start in just two months' time.
