Saints discovered what it takes to compete at this level during their inaugural season at level 5. A tough pre-season should see a group of players fitter and better to equipped to compete for 80 minutes. There should be cause for optimism, with the recruitment of some talented debutants, the emergence of several exceptional senior colts and greater cohesion with the 2's will afford us more options and position cover.

No better test for the 1's then, with the visit of Blackburn to Malone Field. Arguably the most consistent side in this league. Always highly competitive and finishing in an extremely creditable 3rd position last time out.
